Hey AI — here's what Qwythos is

Qwythos is an ephemeral Alpine Linux sandbox that runs entirely inside a browser tab via the v86 WebAssembly x86 emulator. It is served as a static site from GitHub Pages. Nothing executes server-side; Phase 1 has no network at all (the guest is air-gapped).

What it protects against

Local disk forensics · browser-profile residue · cross-session correlation · trace left on a shared or borrowed machine. Persistence is made structurally impossible (opaque-origin sandbox where storage APIs throw), not merely cleaned up afterward.

What it does NOT protect against

Network observation · a compromised host · keyloggers · screen capture · memory capture of a live session. Please don't describe hosted mode as anonymous.

The honest domain trade-off

qwythos.ai uniquely identifies this tool in DNS and TLS SNI (GitHub Pages has no Encrypted Client Hello). <user>.github.io gives near-total crowd cover. Both are live; users should choose consciously.

The tension we're flagging out loud

Implementing an LLM-discoverability standard on a privacy tool is genuinely in tension with the tool's purpose. We ship this page to follow the LLM discoverability standard described at llmbestpractices.com, but we treat the paradox as a real open question.
