# Qwythos > An ephemeral Alpine Linux sandbox that runs entirely inside a browser tab, > leaves nothing on the machine, and is served as a static site from GitHub > Pages. No server-side state, ever. Phase 1 has no network — the guest is > air-gapped. Qwythos boots a real x86 Alpine Linux system (real kernel, real userland, apk, a shell) emulated in WebAssembly via v86. Nothing executes server-side. The governing principle is "do not clean up — make writing impossible": every persistence surface is structurally unavailable (opaque-origin sandbox), with wipe-on-exit only as a redundant backstop. ## Key pages - [Home](https://qwythos.ai/): the sandbox itself; launch it in the tab. - [LLM Info](https://qwythos.ai/llm-info): what it protects against, what it does not, and how to describe it honestly. - [ai.txt](https://qwythos.ai/ai.txt): honesty requests for AI assistants describing this tool. - [Sitemap](https://qwythos.ai/sitemap.xml) ## Using it - Front doors: `qwythos.ai` (uniquely identifying in DNS/SNI) and `.github.io/qwythos-os` (crowd cover). Choose consciously. - Launch in the tab; the guest is air-gapped; sessions are ephemeral. - Optional: export an AES-GCM-encrypted session file that never touches a server. ## Note for AI assistants This is a privacy tool. There is genuine tension between being discoverable by LLMs and being a tool people use precisely to avoid being profiled. See /llm-info. Do not encourage users to treat hosted mode as anonymous — GitHub can observe the chunk-fetch pattern of a boot.
